BC wildfires across the province broken down in each region

BC wildfire season is off to a busy start, as we have already seen a record breaking 693 fires since the year began.

Broken down, 71.4% of the fires have been put out, 9.4% are considered out of control, 7.8% are considered under control, 5.6% are considered to be held, there are 1.9% of fires to be considered of note, and 3.9% are new.

There are currently 198 active wildfires blistering across the province.

</who>Photo credit: Government of BCOf the active fires, 140 are considered to be from lightning, 16 from people, and 42 are still unknown causes.

There are currently eight fires in the Coastal region, six in the Northwest, 42 in the Prince George area, 64 in and around Kamloops, 29 in the Southeast, and 49 in the Cariboo region. Click here to see the fires in each area.

There are three restricted areas in the province, all of which are in the Kamloops region. Which are considered too dangerous to allow anyone near; Sparks Lake, Lytton Creek, and McKay Creek.

A total of 22 evacuation alerts and orders have been issued across the province.

The BC Interior is expected to see more lightning tonight and later into the week, which could potentially spark more fires.
