RDOS rescinds evacuation alerts in several rural areas

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) has rescinded numerous evacuation alerts in Electoral Areas B and G.

On Wednesday afternoon, the RDOS issued a news release stating that the evacuation alert for residents who live in the vicinity of the Snowy Protected Area in Electoral Area B that was issued on August 1, has been rescinded.

The area includes the portion of Crown Land and lands within the Snow Protected area, extending from the southern boundary of lands of the Lower Similkameen Indian Band in the mountain range southwest of the community of Cawston, extending south to the United States border and west of the Chopaka 7 & 8 lands to the boundary with Electoral Area G.

<who>Photo Credit: Facebook BC Wildfire Service </who>The RDOS announced Wednesday that evacuation alerts for various areas in Electoral Area B and G have been rescinded.

Another alert for residents who live near Cool Creek and the Ashnola Forest Service Road, southeast of the community of Princeton in Electoral Area H issued on August 17, has also been rescinded.

The area borders a portion of Electoral Area G to the east, extends west toward Highway 3 near East Gate, south of the southern most boundary of the Town of Princeton adjacent to the mine property.

A third alert is also rescinded for the area within Electoral Area G that borders a portion of Electoral Area H to the west, follows the Ashnola Forest Service Road to the south and east, and the Lower Similkameen Band and Upper Similkameen Band lands and Sterling Creek Forest Service Road to the north.

A fourth alert issued for the Cathedral Provincial Park and the surrounding area has also been rescinded.

A fifth alert issued for the vicinity of rural Keremeos, in Electoral Area G, issued on August 18, affecting 25 properties, has also been rescinded.

Along with the removal of the evacuation alerts, the State of Local Emergency for Electoral Area B and G have also been rescinded.
