(UPDATE: July 17th @ 10 p.m.) A lightning storm on Tuesday evening sparked more than a few wildfires over the Okanagan-Similkameen region.
The small grass fire that sparked near Rattlesnake Island is still active according to BC Wildfire Services.
BC Wildfire Services is addressing the fire with a helicopter and a small spot plane spotted circling the area.
BC Wildfire Services has reported more than 30 wildfires that started today and the number is expected to escalate as the evening unfolds.
Substantial lightning activity across B.C. has led to a busy evening. 38 new wildfires began today - this number is expected to rise as more are discovered tomorrow. Urgent updates to be posted as needed overnight, otherwise new information to be provided tomorrow.
