How Okanagan residents can be prepared for emergencies

During the course of B.C.'s most recent fire season, residents are reminded of the importance of being prepared in case an emergency situation arises.

According to B.C.'s Wildfire Season Summary, the 2017 wildfire season was the longest Provincial State of Emergency in our province’s history and the first to be declared since the 2003 firestorm.

On average, B.C. experiences roughly 2,000 wildfires every year.

PreparedBC tweeted this helpful guide to give an example of a basic emergency kit residents can craft so they can be prepared for any trouble they may face.

And let’s not forget the importance of accounting for our furry family members too.

Finding supplies to add to this kit is as simple as visiting your local hardware store. If you would like more information on how to remain prepared during an emergency, click here to go to PreparedBC's Twitter page.
