Today's list of Kelowna businesses who have created positive community initiatives

During this uncertain time, it is paramount that as a community we stick together and help each other through thick and thin.

Using the #kelownastrong on our social platforms, we are bringing you stories and initiatives that radiate positivity in our community.

The National Film Board of Canada offers free online learning resources for parents and teachers

As Canadians do their part to tackle the COVID-19 outbreak, families and teachers are adjusting to the new reality and working to provide educational and diverse content to children at home.

Starting today, the National Film Board of Canada (NFB), the country’s leader in audiovisual learning resources, is offering free online learning resources that will give Canadian families and teachers new tools to keep young minds engaged.

  • Parents can access a special collection of acclaimed NFB films and learning resources at NFB.ca/education.
  • All teachers across Canada, from now until June 30, 2020, have free access to campus, the NFB’s online media portal.

These resources are a great way to keep young engaged during the time they are spending at home way from school.

Free Crêpes from Cora

Cora Breakfast and Lunch Kelowna will be offering free crêpes with a regular breakfast order of over $9 for take-out or delivery during the entire month of April.

The crêpes are about 9 inches in diameter, fluffy in texture, and made with Madame Cora’s famous recipe.

“It’s our way of supporting the community during these challenging times,” says manager Graham Daley.

“In my opinion, we make the best crêpes in Kelowna, and if we can bring some smiles to the community by sharing the magic of our kitchen, then we’re happy to do it. Our crêpes are a big hit with children and we think this offer will especially be helpful to families with little ones to feed while parents work from home.”

There is a limit of up to 5 free crêpes per breakfast order.

This offer is only available by phoning Cora Breakfast and Lunch Kelowna directly at 250-868-0880.

Cora Breakfast and Lunch Kelowna is located at Orchard Park Mall and is now open between 6am – 2pm Monday-Saturday and 7am-2pm Sunday.

In addition, Cora Breakfast and Lunch Kelowna is a proud partner of the Central Okanagan Food Bank and will be accepting donations of non-perishable food items for the month of April.

KelownaNow launches online restaurant directory with takeout and delivery information

Since restaurants have been forced to shut their doors to sit-in customers, there’s been a huge scramble to make adjustments.

Most have condensed their hours and are offering some kind of delivery or takeout options in an effort to keep their loyal customers fed and continue making some sort of income during the COVID-19 pandemic.

You’ve likely seen some of your favourite restaurants make announcements regarding this on social media, but it’s not easy to keep track of with so much going on.

KelownaNow is all about making your life easier and supporting local, so we’ve launched an online restaurant directory that will hopefully make navigating the world of “eating out” a little bit easier during these stressful times.

Click this link to check out the directory and reach out to Alexa if you’re the owner of a local restaurant that wants to have control over your listing!
