It's that time of year again, time to get the chain cleaned and lubed.
Get the tires balanced and pumped up because Bike to Work and School Week is here and registration opened on Thursday.
The event runs from May 29th to June 4th and the aim is to get more people out of their cars and onto bikes.
“Bike to Work and Bike and Walk to School Week provides an opportunity for people to develop a passion for active transportation by encouraging people to try it in a fun, supportive format," said Mike Kittmer, Active Transportation Coordinator.
"Over the years, many people who have tried cycling during the event have developed a preference for it,” said Kittmer.
Bike to Work Week (BTWW) is a non-profit that started in Victoria in 1995.
The first event saw 500 participants.
By 2016, more than 52 regions across BC participated, making for 369, 987 participants and $80,930 dollars in gas saved.
According to Bike To Work, Kelowna had 2013 cyclists who participated in 2016 with a total of 77,804 kilometres clocked.
In Kamloops last year, 999 cyclists participated in BTWW and clocked 29,132 kilometres.
