The Okanagan Gymnastics Acrobatic team spent the last two weeks travelling the USA. Their first stop was Texas, followed by Las Vegas.
Two teams and their coach Shawna De Leske started the journey in Boerne, Texas where level seven's mixed pair, Robert Knight and Taya Vliek won Gold and level seven's women's pair, Alivia Brown and Maddi Dalkeith placed ninth. Following the weekend in Texas, these two teams continued their journey to Las Vegas, where the rest of the team joined them.
The Vegas Acro Cup was a huge International Cup with over 700 entries from around the world. Fifteen athletes from Okanagan Gymnastics Centre attended and competed well, beating out some prestigious clubs.
Level six trio, Cheyanna Wolff, Ava Murray and Kristen Riopel missed out on silver by just a hair with their beautiful routine. They took fourth place.
Level seven women's pair, Alivia Brown and Maddi Dalkeith placed ninth.
Level seven mixed pair, Robert Knight and Taya Vliek won gold.
Level eight women's 13 years and under pair, Brie-Lynn Sargeant and Megan Bailie won gold.
Level eight women's 14 years and older pair, Natalia Johnson and Charli Hall placed 12th.
Level eight women's 14 years and older pair of Ava Clark and Sara Ross won bronze.
Level 10 mixed pair, Jackson Peters and Jacob Wong won gold.
Four medals at our first ever international competition is absolutely wonderful for our program.
Head Coach Shawna De Leske and assistant coach Max Brodin are very proud of how hard these amazing athletes prepared for and competed at this huge event.
From April 22nd to the 23rd, coach Shawna De Leske will be travelling with two teams to the California State Championship in Livermore California.
