Nashville and Pittsburgh will play for the Stanley Cup

The Ottawa Senators’ spectacular run came to an end of Thursday night.

Chris Kunitz scored for Pittsburgh in the second overtime to give the Penguins a 3-2 overtime win over the last Canadian team in the playoffs.

The win crowned the Penguins as the Eastern Conference champions, earning them a spot in the Stanley Cup Finals against the Nashville Predators.

Pittsburgh took a pair of one goal leads during regulation on Thursday, but Ottawa responded within 19 seconds the first time and three minutes the second time.

Finally, a knuckle puck one timer from Kunitz on a pass from Sidney Crosby fluttered it’s way past Craig Anderson to give Pittsburgh the win.

Now, in what will surely go down as the most yellow Stanley Cup of all time, the Penguins will take on the Predators in a series that starts on Monday, May 29th.

Pittsburgh is making its second straight appearance in the finals, looking to become the first time to win back to back titles since Detroit accomplished the feat in 1997 and 1998.

Meanwhile, Nashville is making their first appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals.

They’re also the first team from the city to play for a title since the Tennessee Titans in 1999, who lost a heartbreaker to the St. Louis Rams.

The NBA finals were set on Thursday as well, as the Cleveland Cavaliers knocked off the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference finals.

Cleveland will now take on the Golden State Warriors in the third straight final between the two teams.
