One of junior hockey’s favourite holiday traditions is coming up in Kelowna.
The Kelowna Rockets fifth annual teddy bear toss night will take place on Saturday, December 2nd.
The Kootenay Ice will be in town and they’ll surely be ready to sit around and twiddle their thumbs when the Rockets score their first goal.
When that happens, the league’s best fans will let hundreds of teddy bears rain down onto the ice.
Last year, Nick Merkley scored the all important goal that led to three truckloads of bears being collected and delivered to Kelowna General Hospital.
Not only will the bears bring smiles to patients at KGH, but the hospital will also share the bears with other agencies in Kelowna who distribute them to senior homes, special needs facilities and more.
Each year, WHL teams come together to collect more than 50,000 items for local not-for-profit organizations throughout Western Canada and the northwest U.S.
Tickets for teddy bear toss and other Rockets home games are available through Select Your Tickets, the Prospera Place box office or by phone at 250-762-5050.
