The Kelowna Rockets continue to make moves in the lead up to Tuesday’s WHL trade deadline.
After making a trio of trades on Friday, GM Bruce Hamilton announced another deal on Sunday.
Jake Kryski has been traded to the Calgary Hitmen in exchange for 19-year-old forward Carsen Twarysnki.
“We felt we needed to add a big physical forward and we’re getting that in Carsen,” Hamilton said about the trade. “A power forward is something we were lacking.”
The 6’2”, 200 lbs Twarysnki has 10 goals and 21 points in 36 games so far this season, with 86 points in 160 career games.
He was taken 82nd overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2016 NHL entry draft and if he doesn’t return as an overager next year, the Rockets will receive a compensatory third-round pick.
Kryski, on the other hand, had put up 13 goals and 29 points in 37 games with the Rockets since being acquired from the Blazers for the Gatenby brothers in the summer.
He’ll join the Hitmen, who are battling for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
“Jake Kryski is the player that Calgary wanted in return, so that’s the price we had to pay,” explain Hamilton.

Twarysnki is expected to make his Rockets debut on Wednesday when the team travels to the island to play the Victoria Royals.
Barring injury, Rockets’ fans first chance to see the team’s newest addition will be on January 18th when the Moose Jaw Warriors are in town.
