Rockets look to continue perfect homestand against Giants

For the first time since before the COVID-19 pandemic, the Kelowna Rockets will have the potential to pack the house tonight.

After Tuesday’s announcement from provincial health officials, Prospera Place can once again have 100% capacity for Rockets game.

The timing is perfect, as the team is in the middle of a four-game homestand.

Kelowna is 2-0 on that homestand after a pair of weekend wins and now the Vancouver Giants will roll into town for a midweek showdown between divisional rivals.

The Giants might be a little tired when they arrive in Kelowna, as the team is being forced to take the lengthy detour through the United States due to highway closures in BC.

It will add around five extra hours to the trip.

Andrew Cristall, Caden Price and head coach Kris Mallette remain away at the Capital City Challenge, but should return this weekend as the tournament wraps up in Ottawa tonight.

Kelowna will also be without forward Riley Kovacevic tonight, as the WHL announced on Tuesday that the young forward has been suspended for one game.

While the Kamloops Blazers are running away with the BC Division so far this season, the Rockets and Giants are separated by just one point.

Kelowna is currently second with 22 points in 17 games, while Vancouver is right behind them with 21 points in 18 games, making this an important matchup for both teams.

Puck drop is 7:05 pm PT and tickets are available through Select Your Tickets.
