Stoesser makes 49 saves as Rockets rebound with 4-2 win over Victoria

After struggling to find the back of the net in Everett on Friday, the Kelowna Rockets had no problem scoring in their 4-2 win over the Victoria Royals on Saturday.

Alongside the offence firing on all cylinders, Rhett Stoesser stopped 49 shots in the win as the Rockets were outshot 51-34.

Kelowna got the scoring started halfway through the first period after Andrew Cristall beat Jayden Kraus for a shorthanded score.

With a man advantage, the Rockets then got a cushion on the scoreboard courtesy of Hiroki Gojsic’s eighth goal of the season.

Victoria managed to cut the lead to one goal before the first period could end, but Jakub Stancl’s lone goal of the second period would put Kelowna back up 3-1.

The third period saw Stoesser stand tall in net as the Royals outshot the Rockets 21-7.

With the net empty, Cristall buried his 20th goal of the season en route to a 4-2 win.

The Rockets will stay in Victoria for a Sunday afternoon rematch against the Royals.

Kelowna’s next home game is Dec. 14 against the Wenatchee Wild.
