The Kelowna Rockets suffered their fourteenth loss on the season Friday night at the hands of the Spokane Chiefs. With a final score of 6-3 for the Chiefs, the Rockets' record falls to 35-14-3-0.
A rough start for the Rockets saw the Chiefs jump up 3-0 in the first period, scoring the latter two goals just 23 seconds apart. The shots were 17-8 for the Chiefs after the first period of play.
The Chiefs made the most of powerplay opportunities in the second period going 2/3, and added another even strength goal. The Rockets were down 6-0 going into the third period.
Goaltender Brodan Salmond made his Rockets debut when Michael Herringer was pulled from the game after relinquishing four goals.
A comeback effort by the Rockets began in the third period with an unassisted goal from Calvin Thurkauf. A Lucas Johansen shot from the point made the game 6-2, and Jonathan Smart's first WHL goal was the Rockets' third tally.
The Rockets will be back in action at Prospera Place on Saturday, February 6th to take on the visiting Calgary Hitmen.
