Golden moments galore for OGC trampolinists in Calgary

Eleven members of the Okanagan Gymnastics Centre brought home eight gold medals from the Western Canada Cup trampoline and tumbling championships in Calgary recently.

Representing Team BC, Madison Eagle of the OGC captured two gold medals and the Western Canadian championship title by winning the Level 4 mini trampoline and the Level 2 tumbling competitions.

Janiah Harris tied for first place with Eagle in the Level 2 tumbling event and finished in third place in Level 4 trampoline.Vanna Harris earned the silver medal in Level 4 double mini trampoline.

A silver medal went to Taylor Pillinger in the Level 3 double mini event while she also finished in sixth place overall in the all-around competition. Athletes are eligible for the all-around only if they compete in all three events — trampoline, double mini trampoline and tumbling.

Competing for Okanagan Gymnastics Centre, Nate Banner and Ethan Scott finished with the gold medal in the Level 1 synchronized trampoline event. Banner also claimed the individual Level 1 trampoline championship.

Max Vandenberg earned the gold medal in the Level 3 trampoline event and Taya Lawless finished in first place and is the champion in the girls’ Level 4 trampoline event.

Ally Wyllie earned two bronze medals — in the Level 3 trampoline and double mini trampoline events — while Ella Law’s top finish was a fourth place in the Level 1 double mini trampoline.

Coming up for the OGC athletes is their own Ogopogo Invitational June 10-12 at the Royal LePage Place in West Kelowna.
