Sharp showing for Kelowna figure skaters in Super Series

The Kelowna Skating Club displayed its skill and depth at the 2016 Super Series BC Summerskate on the weekend.

Twenty-eight KSC skaters traveled to Burnaby for the second stop of this season’s Super Series to compete with top skaters from BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario.

<who>Photo Credit: Contributed </who>The KSC's Daria Carr topped the field in both segments of the Pre-novice competition in Burnaby.The Kelowna team won 14 medal, including six gold.

The Pre-novice women’s division provided one of the many highlights as Kelowna members skated to two of the three competitive titles.

Daria Carr won, 12, won both segments of Group 1 and finished with a personal-best 97.44 points, the highest total posted in her level at the event.

Teammate Vienna Hardwood claimed the gold in Group 2. The 11-year-old registered a score of 86.07 while KSC’s Maya Rose took second place.

<who>Photo Credit: Contributed </who>Vienna Hardwood of the Kelowna Skating Club skated to first place in Pre-novice Group 1 at the Super Series.The Kelowna club also dominated at the Juvenile under-12 level, winning the gold medals in two of the three groups.

Malayna Lesko skated to first place in Group 3 with a score of 29.77 points while Emily Sales won Group 2 with 26.92 points. Brooklyn Cowen took the bronze in Group 1.

At the Novice level, Emma Bulawka won silver in Group 1 and Mikayla Kramer earned the bronze in Group 2.

Also winning gold medals for the Kelowna team were Olivia Trampuh at the Star 10 level and Lauren Viau in Group 3 of Star 4 under-13 girls.

At the Junior level, Mckenna Colthorp won the silver medal, while Paige Edgar (Star 5 Girls under 13 Group 2) and Gabrielle Jugnauth (Star 4 Girls under 10 Group 1) did likewise.

Rounding out the medal wins was Taiya Knight in Group 2 of Pre-juvenile women under-13.
