KelownaNow is proud to be at the forefront of recognizing the exploits and achievements of current athletes and teams in the Central Okanagan.

<who>Photo Credit: Lorne White/KelownaNow </who>Members of the 2006 Kelowna Owls soccer team that won a B.C. School Sports provincial championship were, from left, front: Paige Cochrane, Anna Durrant, Lindsey Parrent, Kailee Ryan, Hayley Heuser, Dana Hudson and Liz Wannop. Back: Arnar Bernhardsson (head coach), Katelyn Tietzen, Laural Kuntz, Ryan Maxie (coach), Sian Flanagan, Sophie Reid, Aliza Cundy, Maria Renouf, Robin Fighter, Aidan Szombathy, Danielle Hennig, Paul Clarke (coach), Tanna Reszitnyk, Maria Panucci and Shannon Long.

Our new commitment is to shine a light on sports achievements of past years and decades. From Lorne White's deep archives we're introducing the first in a series of TBT (Throwback Thursday) articles and photo galleries that will revive memories of athletes and coaches, as well as the supporting cast of families, friends and neighbours.

We welcome your throwback feedback. Contribute your favourite memories about this team from 11 years ago. Fill us in . . . how did the experience of competing at such a high level in high school shape your post-secondary years? Where did you land after high school and what are you up to now? Pass it on via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.

For continuing to help shape the sporting community and the Central Okanagan in general, thanks from KelownaNow.
