The Kelowna College Basketball Society is very excited to announce the inaugural opening weekend for the newly formed Okanagan College Coyotes basketball programs, September 8th and 9th at Immaculata High School.
It has been an incredible journey for the program since its inception when the agreement was signed between the society and Okanagan College on December 20th, 2016. President Dino Gini of the self-funded Kelowna College Basketball Society (and head coach of the men’s program) is excited and proud of how much his group of volunteers have accomplished to bring the program to where it is presently.
“We have put in some incredibly long hours and we are proud and excited for opening weekend. Our players have been working hard both on the court as well as in the community to raise awareness and funds to launch our program. We have received tremendous support from local residents and businesses, and watching the culmination of everyone’s efforts being realized on opening weekend will be very emotionally satisfying for everyone who has been a part of what we are doing,” said Gini.
September 8th will be the first official games of the new Okanagan College basketball program. Their historic first weekend will feature the Okanagan College Coyotes vs Ambrose College from Calgary, Alberta. The women will tip off at 6 pm and the men’s game will commence at 8pm.
