City installs first pickleball courts

Pickleball has officially come to PG!

This summer, crews installed four pickleball courts at Fairburn Park near the intersection of Foothills Boulevard and North Nechako Road.

These are the first found pickleball courts to come to Prince George!

This beloved game involves using paddles to hit a ball over a net and is similar to tennis and badminton.

“Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in North America, and the City has seen a high demand for pickleball courts in recent years,” says Parks Supervisor Chris Bjorn.

“The sport is particularly popular amongst seniors and, since we opened the courts this summer, they have been heavily used. The City is working with community groups to investigate whether pickleball courts might work in other areas of the city.”

It's time to get out and try a new sport! You can either book the court online or drop in anytime.
