The king is back on top!
With many Americans celebrating Independence Day, the annual Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest was back in full swing this afternoon. Joey Chestnut, who had won 12 of the last 13 events at Coney Island, was the overwhelming favourite in 2020.
In just 10 minutes, Chestnut ate 75 hot dogs, breaking his own world record of 73, which was set in 2013. The 75 dogs were good enough to net him his 13th career championship.

By the numbers, Chestnut consumed approximately 21,000 calories and 1,087.5 grams of fat.
His 13 championships are one more than the 12 sports titles won together by Micheal Jordan and Tom Brady. This comparison has led fans to call Chestnut the "Goat of Goats."
The last time Chestnut lost was in 2006 to six-time winner Takeru Kobayashi. Kobayashi finished 53.75 dogs while Chestnut only scarfed back 52.
