Junior Owls win two to earn provincial girls basketball berth

Ranked fourth among Okanagan Valley junior girls teams going into the past weekend, the Kelowna Owls overcame the odds to earn a berth at the B.C. provincial championship tournament with a pair of wins in Penticton.

The Owls, led by the high-scoring duo of Katrina Fink and Japleen Chahal, defeated the provincially No. 2-ranked Valleyview Vikes of Kamloops (51-44) and the host No. 11 Penticton Lakers (56-38) in a provincial qualifying tournament at Penticton Secondary School.
