It has been quite the year for Kamloops-native Johnny Ludvig.
The WHL's Portland Winterhawks announced on Friday that defenseman would be the club's captain for the 2019-20 WHL season. With the news, Ludvig becomes the 44th captain in team history. He joins the likes of former NHL stars Brenden Morrow, Paul Gaustad, and Adam Deadmarsh.

Ludvig was drafted by the Florida Panthers in the third round, 69th overall, of the 2019 NHL Draft. He is entering his third season with the Winterhawks and has played 123 games with the team to date.
Last season with the Hawks, Ludvig set career highs in goals, assists, and points. He also led the conference in plus/minus with a +38 rating.

The shutdown defenseman has two years of WHL eligibility remaining.
