The Kelowna Skating Club had a tremendous showing at the 2019 BC and Yukon Selection Championships held in Coquitlam last week.
The sectionals represent the provincial championships for British Columbia's top skaters, as well as a qualification to the Skate Canada Challenge event. Kelowna's club performed great as they picked up ten medals in seven events and three provincial titles.
One of the largest highlights from the week included the Juvenile Women U12 where Kelowna's Megan Yudin scored a personal best 33.54 points to capture a gold medal and the event's artistic award.
In the Juvenile Women U14, Kelowna skaters finished one and two with Ava Sanderson winning the title and artistic award while Sarah Mullins captured a silver.
At the Junior level, Emma Bulawka landed seven triple jumps to win gold and the artistic award. Vienna Harwood had a masterful second run after finishing 5th in the shot to capture a silver medal at the Novice level as well.
Olivia gran won a pewter medal in the Senior level so she will be representing Kelowna at the Skate Canada Challenge while 12-year-old Emily Sales won her event and will be off to the National Championships for Pre-Novice Level Skaters.
