Okanagan College Coyotes launching Values over Victory initiative this Wednesday

The Okanagan College Coyotes are set to launch their new online initiative, “Values over Victory” this Wednesday.

Values over Victory is a positive online initiative that demonstrates the values these athletes were raised on and continue to spread as human beings.

The team will be looking beyond the stat line at what pushes the student-athletes to become inspirational leaders and community members. The Coyotes are starting the initiative at the college level, so the message filters down through schools and reaches all children in the Okanagan area, reinforcing that values matter, especially online.

Individual athletes will share their stories of inspiration, heartbreak, adversity, and success with the Mazu Family application, so audiences of all ages can follow along and get to know their favourite Coyotes players.

“We know the Okanagan basketball community is a close-knit one from sponsors, to teams and players, these relationships are built on people and values,” wrote Coyotes men’s basketball coach, Dino Gini. “The Values over Victory campaign is to show those same foundational principles are still evident at the highest level without sacrificing success.”

“We want this campaign to resonate throughout the Okanagan community, starting with the Coyotes and echoing down through schools, athletics and business as values are essential to success in all areas.”

Residents are welcome to meet the athletes and become a part of the campaign as the initiative kicks of at the Kanata Hotel & Conference Centre at 6 p.m on Wednesday. Special guest Colin Basran will be on hand with the team to educate everyone on the program and how YOU can help spread the word.
