TRU WolfPack men's soccer add NCAA player

The TRU WolfPack men's soccer team just got much stronger.

TRU announced today that Toronto-born Darupad "Dodi Sharma would join the team for the 2019-20 Canada West Season. Sharma, a 5'7" wing, spent last season playing for the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in the NCAA Division II. Prior to that, he was with West Virginia Wesleyan College.

“We are pleased to have Darupad joining our program,” says head coach John Antulov. “With the loss of some of our attacking players, he is going to give us a kind of attacking flair that we will need. He is a quick player who loves to go forward and is technically very good.”

Sharma and Antulov have been in contact for the last two years after the WolfPack coach was given his name from Simon Fraser University head coach Clint Schnieder. Dodi expressed interest in returning to Canada and come to TRU last fall.

“I have watched some footage of USPORTS soccer but experiencing it will be different,” Dodi says. “ I look forward to the challenge.”

Sharma's main strengths are his technique, ability to go at defenders, and being able to create opportunities in 1v1 situations.

"I’m buzzing to join the WolfPack and do my best to help the team succeed. I can’t wait to meet the coach and the guys and get to work.”

More recruiting announcements are expected in the coming weeks as the team gets closer to training camp.
