The Toronto Raptors are in the middle of their best season in franchise history and the squad's star player just received another accolade.
Forward Kawhi Leonard has finished second in voting among Eastern Conference forwards, making him a starter at the 2019 NBA All-Star Game on February 17.
Currently ranked fifth in NBA scoring, Leonard is averaging a career-high 27.6 points and 7.9 rebounds through 36 games. He has led the Raptors in scoring on 31 occasions, and ranks second on the team with 11 double-double.
LeBron James (4,620,809 fan votes) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (4,375,747) led their respective conferences in voting, and will serve as team captains. For the second year in a row, teams will be decided by a fantasy draft, which will be televised on February 7.
However, Raptors fans received some, well, interesting news on Thursday, after the L.A. Times reported that Leonard has purchased a $13-million home in San Deigo, California.
Rumours have run rampant since Leonard's signing that he would bolt to his hometown L.A. Lakers next season and his recent real estate investment done little to calm those fears.
Although, stress over Leonard leaving may be unfounded as it's a three hour commute in traffic from San Deigo to the Staples Centre.
