120-year-old daily temperature record broken in BC town on Sunday

It was another warm day across the province and 24 daily temperature records were broken.

Although October is here and cooler temperatures are expected, Environment Canada explains that a ridge of high pressure is causing the warmer fall days.

On Sunday, temperature records were broken in communities ranging from the coast to the interior.

Vernon broke a nearly 120-year-old daily record that was set in 1904.

Clearwater was a close contender and broke a 99-year-old record while Kelowna broke a record et in 1932.

Agassiz, Esquimalt and another four locations in Victoria broke records set in 1935.

Many of the daily temperatures were only broken by a degree or two with the biggest margin being recorded in Malahat, northwest of Victoria. The new record of 24.8ºC beat the record of 22ºC set in 1987.
