A dust advisory has been issued for part of the North Okanagan thanks to stagnant winter weather conditions.
The Ministry of Environment and the Interior Health Authority issued a dust advisory for Vernon because of high concentrations of coarse particulates, which are expected to stick around until there is a change in weather.
People with chronic underlying medical conditions should are asked to postpone exercise until the advisory is lifted. Staying indoors and in air-conditioned spaces helps to reduce your exposure, which is the highest concern for infants, the elderly and those who have diabetes, lung or heart disease.
Residents in the area might experience symptoms such as increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches or shortness of breath.
