Much of southern B.C. is riding a summer heatwave right now as the calendar makes its way into the heart of the season.
According to Environment Canada, several record high temperature marks for July 16 were eclipsed on Monday, with thermometres nearly hitting the 40°C in some areas.
Whistler broke a 70-year-old record high of 32.2°C set on in 1958 with a temperature of 32.9°C, however, Environment Canada has only been keeping records in Whistler since 1950.
Despite breaking a long standing temperature record, Whistler wasn't the hottest town in B.C.
The title went to Warfield, B.C., where the mercury hit a scorching hot 39°C, making it the hottest spot in all of Canada.

There's potential for even more records to fall today, with Environment Canada issuing several heat warnings across southern B.C., including Metro Vancouver, Kamloops and Kelowna.
