Kelowna weather: Chance of rain, thunderstorms and wind gusts up to 60 km/h

After a few days of beautiful late spring weather, the forecast is a bit moody today.

Environment Canada calls for a 60% chance of showers beginning at 8 am, decreasing to a 20-30% chance this evening before the skies clear up overnight.

The Central Okanagan could also be in for a bit of stormy weather, as the weather agency says there is a “risk of thunderstorms” between 11 am and 6 pm.

And it will be a windy afternoon, blowing in from the southwest around 40 km/h with gusts up to 60 km/h, Environment Canada says.

Through it all, the high is 24°C and the UV index will be a “moderate” five.

It’s often tough to predict this type of weather through the valley, and it could very well stay up in the hills, but whatever does come our way should clear up around dinner time.

Tonight’s forecast calls for a slim chance of rain, a few clouds in the sky and a light breeze as it drops down to an overnight low of 10°C.
