Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Prince George

The forecast for this afternoon and evening is certainly not favourable.

Environment Canada has issued a ‘severe thunderstorm watch’ for Prince George, as well as the 100 Mile, Cariboo and North Thompson regions.

"Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain,” the alert says.

The alert warns that large hail can cause property damage, while strong wind gusts can cause potential danger in many ways as well.

Of course, heavy downpours can provide plenty of issues when it comes to flash floods and water pooling on roads.

If you hear thunder or see lightning, try to stay indoors as much as possible.
