A winter storm warning has been issued for the Trans Canada Highway.
According to Environment Canada, close to 40 cm of snow is expected on Hwy 1 from the Eagle Pass to the Rogers Pass by Monday evening. As snow levels rise to 1,200 metres tonight, both rain and snow are expected to dump on the summit.
"A frontal system laden with subtropical moisture will move across southern BC today through Monday," wrote Environment Canada.
"Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow."
Travellers are urger to take extra care when walking or driving in the affected area.
