Hi! My name is CoCo, and after spending the first bit of my life in unpleasant circumstances, I am ready to find my furever home.
I came to the BC SPCA as an animal cruelty case.
I was one of two neglected dogs seized in June, 2019 after being found living outdoors with no water or food in sight. Both of us were terrified of human contact, as you can see from this photo of me when I was rescued.
I am slowly making progress, and am excited to go to a home that will love me for the rest of my days!
3 years and 5 months
Mastiff / Labrador Retriever
I have never lived in a home, so it has taken me some time to get used to the comforts available to me now. It also takes me some time to warm up to people, although I do tend to enjoy the company of other dogs, especially puppies and females. Once you've earned my trust, I becomes a cuddly playful companion. I am a sweet and lovable boy, with a handsome face that you’re guaranteed to fall in love with.
I need a family that will be willing to put some work into my training and recovery so I can enjoy the life of a normal dog. My ideal home would be with a friendly and social dog who can help me gain confidence.
I also need continued desensitization to the leash, new objects, sounds, and people. With patience, love, compassion and expertise, this beautiful boy will surely blossom into a more confident dog. Hopefully I can find a person with experience working with fearful dogs to continue with my behaviour modification.
Interested adopters can submit applications to penticton@spca.bc.ca. Please note that only serious applicants will be able to meet Coco, and will be required to visit him on multiple occasions.
