Along with celebrating their 53rd Birthday, on March 15th, 2025, the Army, Navy & Airforce Veterans, have a new home at 150 Gray Road, in Rutland. The history of the Army, Navy & Airforce can be traced back to1840 when Queen Victoria gave a charter to a unit in Montreal and with many changes throughout the years, in 1946, they became known as the Army, Navy & Airforce Veterans in Canada, with ANAVETS the acceptable short form to identify the organization. Their purpose is to assist veterans and their families. For their members and guests, they offer drop-in darts and pool, karaoke, dances, meat draws on Saturday, at 3:00 p.m. and bingo on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The clubhouse offers a cash bar and a great open kitchen on the weekends. All monies raised are allocated to local charities. During the birthday celebration, they will be handing out long service pins and appreciation awards to their members. ANAVETS invite all the public to attend. There is no need to be a veteran to join the organization to support our veterans. Open seven days a week. www.anaf376.ca

In recent years, some activists have resorted to targeting famous artworks like the Mona Lisa or Vincent van Gogh’s Sunflower to draw attention to an environmental message. However, the nine artists featured in Her Land; Perspectives in Eco-Art have taken a different tack – their artworks speak for themselves. Through their work, they stimulate thought-provoking conversations and challenge audiences to consider the urgency of environmental issues and human relationships with the land. The exhibition runs from February 8th to May 11th, 2025 at the Kelowna Art Gallery. www.kelownaartgallery.com
