7 hidden gems of the Kelowna brunch scene

Everyone has their favourite spot for brunch in Kelowna, but there are a few hidden gems out there that you might not have tried yet. Some are new, some are well-established, but they are all 100% delicious. Take a break from your current favourite brunch spot to try something new! After all, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, right?

Waterfront Café and Catering

A second location to the excellent restaurant Waterfront Wines, the brand new Waterfront Café will blow you away with its high-quality fare and modern, classic vibe. Like their original location, everything they offer is made completely from scratch, with local ingredients and worldly inspiration.

The grab-n-go café downstairs features freshly baked baguettes, croissants, danishes, cookies and sandwiches. If you want to sit and relax with your pastry and Phil & Sebastian coffee, you can head up the stairs and grab a seat in their bright, cozy, café restaurant seating.

The breakfast selection features elegant options like Apple Croissant French Toast, with Arlo’s honey noir sabayon and toasted almond granola and decadent options like the Duck Confit Grilled Cheese, with aged cheddar, cranberry marmalade, and garden salad.

Don’t miss Chef Mark Filatow’s favourite dish, the Swiss Potato Rosti: two poached eggs, crispy potato cake, gruyere, bacon, white pepper gravy, and grilled homemade oat bread. Their take on this famous Swiss dish contains everything you want for breakfast, but handmade with the type of class and quality that you can only find at Waterfront Wines.

And, if you’re gluten-free, you can have almost everything on the menu – even the gravy! Get a mimosa to sip on and enjoy every bite of this amazing new spot for breakfast and brunch.

The Eldorado

You already know The El has amazing waterfront views and excellent service, but did you know they have just recently redone their menus to include an incredible new breakfast selection?! You’ll find the classics like Eggs Benny and a 2-egg breakfast, but also exciting and innovative new items like the Smoked Salmon Bagel Platter, Oatmeal Brulee, and the Poached Stone Fruit.

This new menu is all about Chef Vincent’s goal to cook with seasonal flavours and ingredients, and maintain the boutique flair of the Hotel Eldorado. Everything is handmade, including the bagels and the ricotta cheese (wow!), and they’re partnered with many local farms and artisans, too.

You’ll love the Lakeside Buttermilk Pancakes, which are served with a generous pat of brown sugar butter, vanilla apricot compote, and Quebec maple syrup. The outstanding flavours are a perfect pairing to the beautiful winter views outside.

One more exciting feature of breakfast at the El is their new selection of loose-leaf organic teas by Moteas, including their very own Eldorado Winter Blend! It’s a blend of earl grey, apple, strawberry, cinnamon spice, and almond. Just the thing to warm you up while you enjoy your breakfast.

Krafty Kitchen

Krafty Kitchen puts on a whimsical weekend brunch focused around 90’s hip-hop music, killer cocktails, and awesome scratch-made food. This hip-hop themed breakfast is aptly named the 'Biggie Brunch,' and it offers some delicious (and gangsta’) options, all in keeping with the hip-hop theme.

Feeling like something distinctly Canadian? Try the Smoke Meat Everyday with pulled smoked brisket, eggs, hollandaise, pickled cabbage, and Krafty’s famous duck-fat potatoes. If you’re vegan, or feeling something on the lighter side, try the Mo’ Tofu Less Problems or the Melon Balla.

You’ll find traditional brunch cocktails like Mimosa and Caesar on the menu, but you’ll also find the Pimmp Cup, the Hair of the Dawg, and Snoop’s favourite Gin & Juice, to keep your thirst quenched and your brunch buzzing.

And if you hadn’t already guessed it, this brunch is always paired with a 90’s hip hop soundtrack. I don’t know about you, but I’ve got brunch on my mind and my mind on my brunch.

The Bread Co.

The Bread Company serves up excellent breakfast or brunch options every day! The coffee shop vibe combined with their fresh bakery quality makes for the coziest of mornings.

Try their famous Eggsperience, made with scrambled eggs, bacon, and green onions in a tortilla, or maybe their Stuffed French Toast, made with fresh homemade sourdough, and a filling of sweetened cream cheese and blueberry compote.

You can’t miss out on their fresh orange juice either – it’s so fresh it’s like sticking a straw in an orange! The menus at their two locations differ slightly, but you can check their website to see what they’re offering and where.

Urban Fare

Urban Fare is the grocery store that seems to do it all! In addition to their full-service deli, they offer a daily full breakfast menu, and everything is made to order with fresh ingredients and service with a smile.

Whether you want to grab a muffin and coffee to go, or sit down and enjoy an Eggs Benny, the Urban Fare café is an excellent hidden gem.

The Curious Café

The Curious is the brunch spot to hit up with friends on a chill morning, when you need the hit of an excellent espresso and the decadence of the Curious menu.

The best part? Brunch is available every day until 2 p.m., so you can sleep as late as you want and still get your brunch fix!

Try something new and #TreatYoSelf to a delicious brunch. You might just find your new favourite spot!
