Chris Corsano with Darren Williams
Chris Corsano is a gifted drummer who has been operating at the intersections of free improvisation, avant-rock, and noise music since the late 1990s. Corsano has worked with a multitude of musicians including Björk, Jandek, as well as other high calibre improvisers like Sonic Youth’s Jim O'Rourke, saxophonists Paul Flaherty, Evan Parker, Joe McPhee; and guitarists Sir Richard Bishop and Heather Leigh Murray. Chris’ style incorporates high-energy free improvising, textural work, and augmenting the drum kit with everything from cello strings to disassembled saxophone parts. Saxophonist/bassoonist Darren Williams woos his audience with a unique style playing that seamlessly melds the menacing with the melancholy. Williams has worked with Eugene Chadbourne, Chad Van Gaalen, Han Bennink, and many others. Now residing locally, Darren has proven that Kelowna is not just a place to pride itself on mere beaches and peaches – a horn player of great prowess and finesse now walks amongst us. Williams’ circular breathing and impressive extended techniques will provide the perfect pairing with Corsano’s drumming: a riotous duo event that will leave Kelowna reeling.
