Come support the second year of professional golf in Kelowna!
In partnership with GolfBC, the Chamber is pleased to present a Golf Business Power Breakfast on Thursday, May 4th at Gallagher’s Canyon Golf & Country Club. After years of promoting Kelowna and the Okanagan as a perfect destination for a professional tour stop, the Mackenzie Tour landed in Kelowna in June of 2016 for four years. The tour returns June 12-18, 2017. Come hear about what it takes to get professional golf started in a city. How to find the best courses, the best golfers, dedicated volunteers, and how to sign up caddies with know-how. Last year’s event had a $2 million impact on Kelowna, and contributed more than $150,000 to charity. It’s all about local support; selling tickets; having the right sponsors; and ensuring local businesses all share in the success of such a high-profile event.
Hugh Vassos, Tournament Director, will talk about the nitty-gritty of what it takes to set up tours (he’s well-known for setting up PGA-branded events across Canada) and keep the wheels turning.
We’ll also be shining a light on local outstanding junior golfers, who will be joining us for a look into their world, and what it’s like to try to get a foothold in the world of professional golf.
