Discover the magic of drumming. Explore exotic rhythms of the Middle East. Learn drum tones, games, exercises and basic rhythms of an ancient and rich culture. Drumming has been shown to build self-esteem, strengthen personal and professional relationships and enhance team performance. This course is ideal for dancers, teachers, artists, health professionals or anyone who loves rhythm. Drums will include doumbek (Arabic tabla), frame drums (def, tar) and riq (Arabic tambourine).
Instructor: Trevor Salloum
Trevor Salloum is known internationally as a music educator who specializes in jazz, Latin and Middle Eastern drumming. He has taught drumming privately, in groups, universities and colleges for over 30 years. He studied music at Notre Dame University, The Banff School of Fine Arts and is a graduate of York University. He is a best selling author with international publisher Mel Bay Publications Inc. and has produced numerous books, CDs and DVDs on drumming.
