Attend our FREE workshop where Terry O'Brien, the Education and Outreach Manager for the West Coast Division of SOCAN, will give a presentation covering a range of subjects related to the use of music compositions and earning royalties.
Topics Include:
- Copyright basics re: music
- Music licensing
- Royalties for music use in TV/film, radio, live performance, internet and other sources
- Music publishing and rights management basics
- Member benefits and new initiatives at SOCAN
- Tips on how to use the SOCAN website

About Terry:
Terry O'Brien is the Education and Outreach Manager for the West Coast Division of SOCAN - the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada. He is based in Vancouver, BC.
Terry has over 35 years experience in various sectors of the music industry as a music publisher, composer, musician, recording artist, producer, consultant, teacher and in wholesale/retail music sales.
Prior to joining SOCAN, Terry spent 10 years at BMG Music Publishing Canada Inc. where he held the position of Vice President and General Manager.
As well, he has been a Director of the Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency (CMRRA), BMG Ricordi Canada and a member of the Executive Board of the Canadian Music Publishers Association (CMPA). He has also served as a board member of Music BC.
