Earls restaurant brings tacos to the streetside with opening of new cantina

Known for being on top, the Earls restaurant in Downtown Kelowna is taking to the streets with the new addition of a Taco Cantina which opened on Tuesday.

Operating out of the alley between Freshslice and Hotbox Yoga, the cantina will sell five different tacos, with a couple starters - like guacamole and salsa with chips - and beer, wine or soft drinks on the side.

However, several gentlemen near the new cantina highly recommended adding a margarita to your order of a taco.

The Earls crew has been planning the taco cantina for over a year and are hoping to make the unique restaurant a permanent seasonal feature of their restaurant.

"It should be open for all the summer months, as long as everything goes well - as long as it's sunny out, we'll open it up," said Nickie Ammirati, manager at the restaurant.

Ammirati and Mike Marshall, also a manager at Earls, were struggling to predict what could be the fan favourite for the new Earls addition, but Ammirati said, "we have tried and tested so many different recipes, these are [all] seriously the best.”

“But the tuna one is super different so if you're looking for something different, go for the tuna one."

The most peculiar aspect of the new cantina is not the elegant restaurant coming down to the streets with tacos, but the structure from which the restaurant operates - a sea can.

Engineered and designed to allow public service, the sea can features all the required items necessary to bring that refined Earls food to the streetside.

If you’re interested in bringing your polished taco-making skills to the team, Ammirati added that they are always looking for good members to join the squad on the streets or the servers on top.
