Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?

From Grand Forks, BC. Lived in Kelowna for 5 years & now live in Golden & travel to Kelowna to run avalanche safety courses.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My tribe of rad female ladies, they inspire me & push me to be a better person.

What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
Alchemy, love all the different brands in there & unique items!

Describe yourself in one word.
Adventurous

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Nepal, I love the Himalayans and way of life there.

What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Mountain biking & snowboarding

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Loading fails with my snowmobile

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Being around women in the backcountry inspires me. Watching them push through their fears in a male dominated environment helps me to conquer my own fears. It pushes me to continue to support women getting training & help them have a voice out there.

Going truck skiing with my family.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Climate

Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
Into the mountains!

Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
Would love to see more folks taking avalanche training allowing Kelowna residents to safely enjoy the mountains that surround them

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
Diversity between the mountains & lake.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?

-Snowboard in India
-Snowboard in Alaska
-Raise some rad little human beings to enjoy the mountains with

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I also teach the youth program for avalanche Canada. Each fall I cruise around the schools in Golden & Invermere chatting with kids about the backcountry & avalanche safety.

What is the name of your business/organization?
Stay Wild Backcountry Skills

Why did you get into/start this business?
The year before start up I was asked by numerous females about running a snowmobile camp & splitboard camp for women. I combined this with my love for snow safety and Stay Wild was born.

What is the goal of your business?
To create a supportive & welcoming environment for people to learn in.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?

Balance, I work wayyy to much, drink way to much coffee and should probably sleep more.

If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
I would do the same, the lessons & people I have met along the way shaped me & the company into where we are today. I am grateful for every success and failure that has taught me so much about myself and the business.

What do you always find yourself saying?
Just breathe, you got this.

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Live in the moment! Cherish each day & be fully present no matter what you are doing.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
Kimmy Fasani, she is such a bad ass snowboarder & mom. I look up to her in many ways & hear that she is a wonderful human with a heart of gold.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
As a business we would never survive if we didn't have local support. We need to support one another and spend our hard earned cash where it really matters.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Starting Stay Wild Backcountry.
