Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?
I grew up in Yuma, Arizona have called Kelowna home for more than 12 years.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My two daughters, Lola age 9 and Scarlett age 7. They are the center of my world. Scarlett makes me giggle constantly with her goofy sense of humour and my Lola bear is the one over flowing with love and gentleness.

What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
Blonde. I spend my work day in Lululemon clothes and when it’s time to put on something different, I want it to be delicate and feminine. Blonde makes me smile and has such fresh style. The customer service and personal attention I receive as a shopper is phenomenal.

Describe yourself in one word.
Energetic.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
I would go to Peru! I’ve been wanting to hike the Inca trail with the kiddos and hubby in tote.

What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Golfing at the Harvest and Hiking Scenic Canyon.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Literally falling down the stairs into a trash can the first day of high school.

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Choosing a career as a personal trainer and watching the women in my life transform to become happy, active, gorgeous, healthy, and confident members of our community. How could I not be inspired by these amazing women who have completely turned their lives around and said goodbye to an old way of life which kept them from reaching their full potential?

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Sleepovers with Grandma Pearl where she’d let me stay up late so that we’d watch Johnny Carson and Mash together while she played solitaire beside me.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
During my pregnancies I was under the care of Malachite Midwives. What they give to our community of mamas and parents-to-be is absolutely mind blowing. I’ve never felt so much compassion and love! Mamas for mamas has my full support as well. What a beautiful community of givers Kelowna has!

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Negativity. The glass should never be half empty EVER.

Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
Bluebird beach or skipping stones on Mission Creek.

Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
I would love to see some city funding put into Black Mountain parks. We have so much growth up here, and are a community full of young families who would benefit from splash parks, bike trails, even a little Community Center up here would be used heavily. Joe Rich would be so happy to share in the use of new facilities as well!

What do you think makes Kelowna great?

The lovely people.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
Hike Kilimanjaro
Join the Okanagan Symphony (I play the violin and viola)
Cycle the Dingle Peninsula in Ireland

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I was born in Chicago and I’m a huge Chicago Bears fan.

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
Wowfitmom- Facebook, @wowfitmom- Instagram, email- wowfitmom@gmail.com

What is the name of your business/organization?
Wow fit mom.

Why did you get into/start this business?
I had a passion for all things fitness. After becoming a mom myself, I recognized the importance of prioritizing my health and wellness.

What is the goal of your business?
To teach the importance of self-care for mothers who often make unhealthy lifestyle choices because it is more convenient.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Finding a healthy work/life balance.

If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
Absolutely 100% the same.

What do you always find yourself saying?
“Way to go” “You’re killing it” “You're almost there” “You can do this” I’m a personal trainer after all, Lol.

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
"Let your yes mean yes! No one enjoys the company of someone who goes back on their word."

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
Michelle Obama! Her “Let’s Move” campaign to teach our children to live a healthier lifestyle really spoke to me. Childhood obesity is a reality and so is screen time addiction. Healthy active children should be the focus in our local communities!

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
It promotes a sense of community and trust. It’s a way of saying "Kelowna, we love you let’s keep the money in our own backyard to better the peoples' lives around us."

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Natural childbirth. It was a beautiful experience that helped me connect with women of generations past and present. It is so empowering to know what our bodies are fully capable of.
