Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?

I was born in Vancouver and moved to Peachland October 2010... so 9 fabulous years of enjoying the Okanagan!

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My Auntie Kathy. She’s funny, kind, full of good advice and loves wine and dogs as much as I do.

What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
Bia Bora! I love their clothes, which are fabulous and affordable. Man + Woman has beautiful pieces too.

Describe yourself in one word.
Confident

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Maui. I love the smell, the flora, the ocean and we have good friends who live there!

What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Wine tasting! I say it’s my hobby but my husband says it's a problem. lol

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
It was a dark and rainy night (which is the usual in Vancouver) and I driving home from a photoshoot when I was pulled over. The problem was I was topless, body-painted from the waist up. The good news is I didn’t get a ticket!

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?

Realizing I had the power and strength to make positive changes in my life.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
I love Christmas, but my favorite memory is when my parents surprised us kids with a trip to Disneyland… we had no idea! They woke us (my 3 siblings and I) up in the middle of the night to go. It was very cool and we had a fabulous time.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I just started Tag Baby a year ago and have already donated to Mamas for Mamas and look forward to helping out more in the future! I’ve also volunteered with Embrace a Discarded Animal Society, which is where we found Diego, our dog.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
There are so many things to change! I think we should start by treating people as we would like to be treated, put the phone down and be present in the moment. Oh and no more animal cruelty!

Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
Are we ever truly alone? Depending on my mood, either Spinco or Waterfront Wines.

Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
More dog-friendly places. Businesses would be busier year-round if behaved dogs were allowed on the patio. Lake Chelan is great for this!

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
The mountains, clean lake, 4 seasons and less rain than Vancouver!

What are 3 things on your bucket list?

Add another dog (or two) to our family
Travel with my hubby and dog(s) around Canada/USA in our RV for an extended time
Have yearly vacations with family and friends

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I love to sew and I'm pretty crafty.

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
Instagram: miss_d_ee or tagbaby.ca

What is the name of your business/organization?
Tag Baby

Why did you get into/start this business?
I made the first Tag Blanket for my Godson over 2yrs ago, and he hasn’t put it down! I had so much fun making it, that I began making them for all the mama’s to be in my life, as a baby shower gift and they were a huge hit! The soft Minky fabric is comforting and as you probably know… babies love tags! They love to suck them, smell them (eww.. I don’t get that part, but if it keeps them happy…) and the tags (ribbons) are sensory and keeps their little hands busy and out of trouble. They are honestly hand made with love, and I hope your little one will love it too!

What is the goal of your business?
To create beautiful blankets that children love, and still have when they’re adults. Over the years, they will look well-loved, but that feeling of love and security will still be with them.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
When you put a lot of energy and effort into someone or something and you don’t get the outcome you hoped for.

If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?

I think the same-I like who I am!

What do you always find yourself saying?
Fabulous

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
You always have a choice.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
My husband, dog, close family and friends. That's more than one (I know) but I love them all and life is busy so spending an entire day with them would be fabulous!

You support friends, families, and community.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Learning how to sew and creating Tag Baby.

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
April Wallgren! She's an amazing person, friend, mom and partner in crime. Thanks for always being there for me!
