Meet Mikayla! Mikayla is originally from Cochrane, AB and has been living here in the beautiful Okanagan for seven years now. She enjoys paddleboarding, camping and spending some quality time with her family.
Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?
I am from Cochrane Alberta and moved to Kelowna in 2012.
Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My husband and daughter, we always laugh so hard and we can do pretty much anything and have the best time.
What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
Too many to count. My most favourite local stores are probably restaurants.
Describe yourself in one word.
Motivated.
If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Bali, Indonesia. I have always wanted to go there to submerge myself in the rich culture and ancient teachings.
What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Stand up paddle boarding!
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Tough, I have got pretty good at laughing at myself!
What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
The most inspiring thing that has happened to me is feeling all the support and acceptance from the people I have surrounded myself with.
Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Spending the summer days around the campfire with my family. We spent hours climbing trees, quading and playing and inventing games.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Less waste and more compassion.
Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
Any of the trails and beach access' I can take my dogs too. I love being "alone" with them.
Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
I would love more dog-friendly/off-leash areas and beaches. There are so many dogs in Kelowna and it is so hot in the summers for them, more dog beach areas would make it more accessible for them to cool off and enjoy the lake as much as we do!

I am a Certified Yoga Instructor.

Instagram is usually the best @mikaylasyoga or @neverlatelashes. I love collaborating with like-minded people!
What is the name of your business/organization?
Never Late Lashes
Why did you get into/start this business?
I first got into lashes because of the creative outlet it offers. Further into the business though I have discovered how something as simple as having your eyelashes done gives women a boost of self-confidence to go be the boss babe they truly are.
What is the goal of your business?
To make women feel confident, empowered, and beautiful!
What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
I have always struggled with self-confidence. So it means more to me than you could imagine seeing peoples faces light up when I can help with their confidence levels.
If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
I would do things the exact same. Of course, there are things I wish had happened differently but I believe life has turned out exactly the way it was meant to and I would not be who I am or where I am if anything had unfolded differently.
What do you always find yourself saying?
Breathe, "when you own your breath, nobody can steal your peace".
Tell us your best piece of life advice.
"Find a tribe that supports you and your goals. Never let anyone tell you that you can't."
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
I would love to spend a day with the Dalai Lama.
Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
I love supporting friends and our community. People are so creative in so many different ways that it is so nice to find the uniqueness locally.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
I like to celebrate everything. My proudest accomplishment though would be my family. Without the support of my husband, I wouldn't where I am, celebrating the things I celebrate.
