Rudolph “the Red Nosed” Reindeer

What do you always find yourself saying?
“Why does everyone always make fun of me?”

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select and why?
I would have to say my cousin Stacy. She lives in Florida and I could really use a hot vacation, especially at this time of the year. It gets so hectic for us; I could really use a margarita.

If you were to receive any existing public award, what award would you like to win?
I’m not much for awards, but if I did win one it would be for “Best Reindeer”. I constantly feel like I am proving myself to the other reindeer, but I can do just as great of a job and I wish they would see that.

If you could spend a day with any historical figure, who would you choose and why?
I would love to spend the day with the Easter Bunny to see how he runs his business. Sometimes I question what Santa is doing and those elves, don’t even get me started.

Who inspires you?
Without a doubt, Mrs. Claus inspires me. That woman is unbelievably patient. I mean, you have a barn full of crazy reindeer, dozens of elves running around with their heads cut off, and Santa freaking out about everything. She takes everything in stride. It’s amazing.

What are three things on your bucket list?
Deliver presents in a backwards order around the world.
Eat my way through Italy, Spain, and France.
Sail a yacht around the world with my two favourite elves, Doug and Jimmy.

If you had an enormous yacht, what would you name it?
The Red Noser

If you could foresee a single day of your future in its entirety, what date would you select?
The day my nose goes out. I would hope that I could look back and have accomplished all of my goals, and bucket list.

What are you passionate about?
Delivering presents in an efficient and timely manner.

What has been your favourite day of your life, up to this point?
Obviously the day Santa asked me to guide his sleigh. That was an absolutely amazing day.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Showing Donner, Prancer, Vixen, and Dasher that I could successfully guide Santa’s sleigh without any problems. When he asked me to do it again, that was an even better moment!

Where is your favourite place to dine in Kelowna? What do you like about it?
Whenever we stop in Kelowna I like to try different places. Last year Comet and I stopped at Central for a quick burger and it was delish! Their homemade ketchup is outstanding and those patties are darn tasty.

What is your favourite activity or event in Kelowna? Why?
Don’t tell anyone, but while Santa is busy at large condo buildings I like to sneak down to Stuart Park and get a quick skate in. It really clears my head to be out on the ice.

What is the name of your business/organization?
Reindeer Present Delivery Inc.

What does your business/organization do?
We deliver presents to good boys and girls around the world.

What is your mission?
To guide Santa’s sleigh around the world and make sure all the children receive their presents on time.

If you could achieve one thing within your field, what would it be?
To be the best delivery service. Take that FedEX!

Where do you want your business/organization to be in five years?
I would like to see us using online services a bit more. We keep talking about delivering presents in more efficient method, but never seem to get around to it. This paper system is really old school.

Who do you consider to be a forerunner within your field?
I would have to say FedEX, despite how much I dislike them. They are our major competition and they always seem to get their package anywhere in the world, and mostly on time.

What three qualities do you feel that your business/organization exemplifies?
Happiness, generosity, and joy.

What would you like to say to your employees/volunteers?
Thanks for everything you do. Seriously. Without the work of every single person we would not be able to do what we do every year.

How does your business/organization impact the community?
If you have to ask this, you obviously know nothing about us!

If I could change one thing about Kelowna, it would be:
Kelowna needs waaaaaaay more snow. It’s too warm and nice in the valley. How are you supposed to have snowball fights and go sledding?

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
Definitely the people. I love visiting Kelowna every year. The kids in Kelowna always leave treats for not just Santa but us Reindeer too. We really appreciate it as we get really hungry during delivery.

My choice for the Kelowna In Focus spotlight is:
Santa Claus!
