Tidy Up

I have had a funny relationship with chores over my life. I grew up in Joe Rich which is just outside the city limits of Kelowna with the forest + nature steps away from my driveway.

My brother and I had to help get firewood for the winter season— of course, he was more into this than I was, being that I hated the bugs and heavy lifting when I was a little one. I helped pin the laundry up on the clothesline in the summer and I usually made my bed. Sometimes I helped with dinner and doing dishes was complete with designated washing + drying nights. We had to get these things done so we could do the other things we really wanted to do!

This all changed when I moved out on my own. Yes, I still cleaned up after myself but I then developed a love for leaving my clean, dry clothes all over my circle chair and my dirty ones on the floor - what better place for them right? I would do my dishes the next day and tidy up when I felt like it. Anyone else?

Chores in your house could look something similar; clean your room, tidy your mess of papers off the kitchen table, fold your laundry, sweep the floor, wipe the mirrors, vacuum your bedroom, clear out the junk drawer, wash the car and your dishes, scrub your deck, put your clothes in their drawers, when really, you can take it deeper.

You can tidy our environment and that might be a beautiful segue to this:

Clean up your thoughts, tidy up your to-do lists, fold a written love letter, sweep out underneath the metaphorical rug, wipe your conscience, cleanse your relationships, put yourself on the first shelf, wash yourself of guilt and dust off any negativity. Clear anything and everything with kindness and compassion. Dry up fear + water your capacity to be self-empowered. Mop up other people’s beliefs they’ve imparted to you and tap into your own.

No need to put it off any longer.

Yes, it's hard.

Oh yes, it can be hard.

But if you stay with it, this will be for your own reward. Tidy up your world and you will be surprised how the world shows up for you.

happy first Sunday of June + HBD to my Mom!

xx,

roz
