Kelowna RCMP has released more details about the deadly accident on Highway 97 near Duck Lake that killed three people.
Police say emergency crews were called the scene at 4:42 p.m. on Tuesday for a three vehicle crash at Parkinson Drive adjacent to the lake. According to witnesses at the accident a northbound Chevrolet Malibu crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a southbound Kia Forte, before hitting head on with a five ton commercial truck.

All three people in the Malibu died at the scene including an 82 year old man, 79 year old woman and a 14 year old boy. The driver of the commercial truck and two occupants in the Kia all suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and were taken to hospital.
The names of the deceased have not been released pending notification of next of kin. The highway remains closed while an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist conducts an assessment of the scene. Police are asking witnesses who may have information to contact the Central Okanagan Traffic Services at 250-980-5353 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
