Cyclists are riding around the Okanagan Saturday and drinking wine to help cure multiple sclerosis (MS).
A large group of cyclists gathered at Rona in Kelowna to begin their bike tour throughout the Okanagan in support of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. The Okanagan Grape Escape Bike Tour includes a beautifully scenic ride through vineyards in the Okanagan with opportunities for cyclists to sample wine and other local foods at different locations. They do, however, need to make sure that they're within the legal limit!
The ride ends at 5:00 p.m. back at Rona, and the day will conclude with Appie Hour at the Ramada banquet room and a dinner and dance.

MS is a neurological disease that attacks the protective covering around nerves, or myelin. The nerve impulses are then interrupted or distorted, which can cause symptoms such as cognitive impairment, difficulty speaking, fatigue, difficulty in walking, depression, and bladder dysfunction. There are approximately 800 MS patients living in the Okanagan area.
The funds raised at the Okanagan Grape Escape Bike Tour will support research to find both the cause and cure, as well as improve the quality of life for MS patients.
