The 71-year-old who was the alleged driver in Saturday's fatal hit-and-run has now been charged.
Sharon Marlene Scott, a contracted driver for the Daily Courier, has been charged with failure to stop at an accident causing bodily harm. Scott made her first court appearance on Monday. According to B.C. Court Services Online, she has faced multiple driving infractions in the past.
Early Sunday morning, 83-year-old Julie Gillespie was walking home when she was hit by a vehicle. She was found alone with serious, extensive injuries in the alley between the Daily Courier and the McWilliams Centre. Gillespie died after being rushed to hospital.
Scott was arrested late Sunday night.
