Bridgestone-Firestone Recalls One Size of Tires

Bridgestone-Firestone Tire Operations is recalling one size of its truck tires after safety concerns were raised.

Firestone FS561 tires sold in the United States and Canada between April 2015 and January 2016 are part of a voluntary safety recall. The tire size is 255/70R22.5 and only affects those tires that are installed in the trailer application.

The safety recall was initiated as a result of a "growing number of warranty adjustments returns for tread separation and detachment on tires in the severe service trailer application." This means the tires had the potential to separate from the body of the car, causing the vehicle to crash without warning.

Owners of the recalled tires are being asked to call their authorized Bridgestone and Firestone dealer, or company-owned service center to arrange for replacement tires. All other FS561 sizes and applications are not included in the recall.

The recalled tires will be replaced free of charge.
