Mike Harcourt was formally the premier of BC and now he’s making waves by calling on Ottawa to create a safe supply of weed for Canadians, for both medicinal and recreational pot.
Harcourt is the Chair of True Leaf Medicine International, which is a BC-based access to cannabis for medical purposes regulations applicant. He said that the government is not acting on information that weed sold at dispensaries contain pesticides and herbicides that are restricted.
The answer?
Thirty-three licenses producers who have gone through the extensive seven-part process to produce and sell medical marijuana in Canada. Harcourt also mentioned the other 416, included True Leaf, who are currently working through the process.
In Harcourt’s eyes, if the supply of weed comes from licensed, accountable producers, customers can feel safe when smoking the weed.
This summer, Harcourt sent a letter to former deputy Prime Minister Anne McLellan, who is heading up the task focusing on Canada’s marijuana sales and distribution.
Now, Harcourt wants to meet with McLellan and Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould.
